Studying at Edmonton Catholic Schools
Edmonton is the capital city of Alberta with a population of 1.36 million (2015 stat Can). It is a growing city with strong economy, yet the cost of living is more affordable than other metropolitan cities, e.g. Vancouver, Toronto. The winter is cold but sunny and the summer is pleasant and warm. Edmonton is also well known for festivals and sports.
The PSDL is a learning model which enables students to 'take charge' of their learning with guidance of their parents and teachers. Students can learn to become more independent, responsible and goal-oriented in their studies and personal lives. In order words, students can control the pace of their academic achievement according to their learning strategies. St. Joseph Hight School is one of the only 2 high schools in Alberta that offers the PSDL model and is the only PSDL International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme in the world.
Edmonton Catholic Schools has over 125 years experience in education. International student can get great support from well established ESL and international student program. And small class size facilitates student achievement and helps students prepare for post-secondary education.
Colleges and Universities
In completion of high school diploma with good academic achievement, graduates can proceed to many colleges and universities in North America for post-secondary studies. In Alberta, there is a great selection of programs offered at the University of Alberta, MacEwan University, the University of Calgary, Mount Royal University, Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, Soutern Alberta Institute of Technology, Concordia University College of Alberta, King's University and Red Deer College.
